The region is to benefit from a new school based in the centre of Newcastle just south of Central Station in the Stephenson Quarter, but serving the region.  The school’s main aim is to deliver academic excellence in the context of the world of work by involving local companies directly in curriculum planning and provision of relevant projects for students.  First for Pharma believes that this will be of great benefit to students in developing their careers.  The age range of pupils is 14-18, corresponding to years 10-13. Entry is at year 10 and year 12 (sixth form).  Applications are invited for the school year 2018-2019 from students currently in years 9 and 11.  The new school’s focus will be on GCSE, A-level and related qualifications identified by companies that most relevant to the broad areas of Information Technology and Healthcare and Life Sciences.  These areas have been identified as regional strengths.  Pharma manufacturing is a key part of this remit; First for Pharma is actively involved.  There is more information at www.nefuturesutc.co.uk  .
